## NASA Expands Commercial Satellite Data Access
### New Contract Awards
NASA has selected eight new companies and will acquire additional data products from six existing Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition contract holders, broadening the suite of commercial satellite data available to researchers, civil agencies, and decision‑makers. These measurements complement NASA’s own Earth‑observing satellites by delivering high‑resolution, frequent observations that enhance the agency’s data portfolio.
### Benefits of Commercial Partnerships
Leveraging commercial data underscores NASA’s commitment to robust public‑private partnerships, enabling expanded scientific insight while reducing costs and accelerating data delivery to end users. Together, NASA and commercial Earth‑observation assets provide critical intelligence about the planet—supporting American interests, environmental monitoring, disaster response, and public safety.
### Contract Details
The Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition Program On‑Ramp 2 Multiple Award contract is a firm‑fixed‑price, indefinite‑delivery/indefinite‑quantity (IDIQ) agreement. The original maximum contract value is $476 million, with a performance period that began in 2023 and runs through Nov. 15, 2028.
